Full Day And Half Day Rafting Rental Trips On The Chattahoochee River

 

Urban Currents offers your choice of two rafting rental trips on the Chattahoochee River: Half Day Raft Rental is $27 per person, minimum 2 person reservation, and Full Day Raft Rental $36 per person, minimum 2 person reservation (rafts hold 2-6 people and an additional charge can be added for a bigger raft that holds up to 8 large adults) Group Rates are available for groups of 16 or more people.

Half Day Rafting Trip

Starts at the Powers Island Park River access and ends at the Paces Mill Park River access on the Chattahoochee River. This section of the Chattahoochee River is is approximately 3 miles long and can be rafted in three hours on average.  Here is a GPS friendly address to the starting/meeting point for the Half Day Rafting Trip- 1900 The Exhcange Building 400, Suite 450 Atlanta. There are two bridges that let you know where you are on your Half Day rafting trip.

  • The first bridge, I-285, is approximately 100 yards into your trip.
  • The second bridge is how you can tell you are at the end of your paddle, the I-75 bridge

The takeout is a well-marked concrete boat ramp 200 yards past the I-75 bridge on the right.

There are three bridges that let you know where you are on your Full Day rafting trip.

  • The first bridge, Johnsons Ferry is immediately after you put in.
  • The second bridge marks the approximate halfway point at I-285
  • The third bridge is how you can tell you are at the end of your paddle, the I-75 bridge

The takeout is a well-marked concrete boat ramp 200 yards past the I-75 bridge on the right.

Rafting trips with Urban Currents put-on the Chattahoochee River 10:00-3:00 seven days a week. Urban Currents would like to have everyone off the river by 6:30 pm.

Your raft fee for the Half Day and Full Day rental includes the raft, life jackets for all passengers and your shuttle ride.  Group Rates are available for groups of 16 or more people.

What Urban Currents Provides:
  • Raft and paddles
  • PFD (personal flotation device) or life jacket, this is a Coast Guard approved Type III PFD.  We offer several different sizes for a custom fit.
  • A shuttle in our clean bus back to the put-in.
What Urban Currents Needs before you can go rafting:
What to Bring on Urban Currents Rafting trips:
  • A filled out waiver
  • Sunscreen
  • Water or some other beverage to stay Hydrated
  • River shoes (something that goes around the heel, preferably not flip-flops, old tennis shoes work well),
  • a towel to dry off when you get off the water, a bathing suit
  • A big smile!!!
Important Things To Know:
  • All participants must be at least five years old.
  • Rafting trips meet at Powers Island at 5820 Interstate North Parkway, Sandy Springs, GA 30328

  • IMPORTANT! All participants must be able to swim for any Urban Currents activity.
  • Pets are allowed if they have a life jacket.
  • You are responsible for your gear.
  • Life jacket replacement $25. Rafting Paddle replacement $20.
  • The Chattahoochee’s current is slow where our trips are taken. To lose the gear on the Chattahoochee, one must literally stand there and watch their gear float away from them down the river at a slow pace.
The Four Main Things Park Rangers Write Tickets For:
  • Pets not on a leash
  • Illegal drugs
  • Glass Containers (alcohol is legal, but Urban Currents does not condone drinking on the river)
  • No Life Jacket (kids 12 and under must wear it – 13 and up must clip it to their tube)
